Reflections on an Eagle Scout Project: Building Benches for the Community

As an aspiring Eagle Scout, I had the privilege of working on a project that would benefit my community. I led the construction of two benches for the garden area outside my high school. It was a challenging experience that taught me valuable lessons about leadership and gratitude.

Overcoming Obstacles in Coordination

The initial stage of my project required thorough planning and preparation. I had to research the garden area to find benches that would fit in with the existing ones and was fortunate enough to acquire the schematics for preexisting benches. I also needed to access the tools needed to build the benches, and am grateful to my scoutmaster for letting me use his tools.

The project had multiple moving parts, and managing the various elements of the project was a challenge. I had to effectively coordinate to ensure that all materials, and volunteers were in place before the construction could begin.

Demonstrating Leadership Qualities

As the head of the project, it was my job to ensure that everything ran smoothly. I had to keep my team of volunteers on task and with high morale. This was accomplished by clearly outlining their responsibilities and expectations before joining the project, and by providing ample breaks, multiple shifts, and food. I also supervised the construction process to guarantee that the quality of the benches was of an exceptional standard.

No project is all sunshine and rainbows, however. I encountered my biggest obstacle when one of the volunteers didn't show up. I had to quickly find a replacement, and I decided to ask my brother to help with the project. With this, we continued with the construction. In the end, the project was completed within the original time-frame.

My Eagle Scout project allowed me to refine my leadership skills (mostly acquired through scouting). Through this experience, I understood the importance of clear communication, good teamwork, and practical decision-making.

After hours of hard work and the realization of months of effort, the benches were finally finished. I felt a sense of satisfaction in what we had accomplished. I am thankful for the support of my volunteer team and scoutmaster. Without their help, the project would not have been possible.

I am especially grateful for the volunteers who generously contributed their time and effort to the project. Their hard work and dedication made the project a success.

Final Thoughts

My Eagle Scout project was one of the high points of my scouting journey and one that I will not soon forget. It taught me the importance of many leadership skills. I am proud to have completed it, and I am honored to have worked alongside such a remarkable group of individuals.

Helping out at the CTE Fair @ Coppell High School

It was a big day for the computer science program at my school;  They were preparing for the annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Fair, for incoming freshmen and sophomores to explore the CTE courses offered by our school. As I am passionate about computer science, and enjoy my AP Principles Class with  Ms. Harmon, I jumped at the opportunity to represent the computer science program, and to share my knowledge, hopefully helping students navigate high school at the freshman center, and at the main campus. At the fair, I was responsible for helping run a booth that showcased different computer science classes, projects, and the pathways in computer science for incoming freshmen and sophomores.   They asked many questions about the programs, its implications, and my recommendations on the course programs. I was just to happy my knowledge and help out the incoming freshmen explore new opportunities for high school. Not only did I have the chance to share my knowled...
